Preview of Liquid Metal Printmaking Video

This is a curious technique which uses a plumbers’ epoxy adhesive to create wonderful relief plates.  Video includes creating plate and creative printing techniques, including a ghost print.  Length:  27:36  Price: €15.00.

“Liquid Metal Printmaking” Video

This technique takes everyone by surprise in the most delightful ways. Using it you can create an incredibly nuanced, multi-color relief print on a single plate and with a single pass through the etching press. It has to be seen to be believed. When a printmaker sees one of these prints the question is always the same: How did you do that?

Maureen’s “Creative Printing” Video

A printmaker brought me a couple of plates recently, asking me what she could do to improve them. I suggested we pull a few prints in order to see just what was on the plates. We finished the following afternoon with a series of exhibition-quality prints, without making any changes to the plates. That’s creative printing.

Maureen’s “Solar Plate Printmaking” Master Class

Solar plate has an undeservedly bad reputation. That’s because too many solar-plate prints look like simple bad photocopies. Excellence in solar-plate printmaking requires precisión every step of the way, with closest attention to the acetate. In this video Maureen shows how.

.WWhat’s a Gallinero? And why would you want to stay there?

This is a great idea Maureen, and I would highly recommend anyone with an interest in printmaking to try them.
My recommendation is based on a two week experience at Maureens lovely cool studio a few summers ago where she excelled at passing on her knowledge and techniques of printmaking to me.

I am interested in participating in one of the master classes. I would like to find out how much it cost (helps me see how long i have to save for it) and how long it takes. Are all the printmaking techniques covered?
I studied art in Uganda and was very much taken up by woodcut print making albeit having teacher who really didn’t like teaching the subject I contacted another practicing artist who taught me what I now know.
But as with all life I had to earn a living and art does not sell very much in Uganda so I went into sales but kept doing a few print on the side. I am currently studying in Austria and started print making again. I have exhibited my past and recent works in Vienna and they were received well though only sold one.
I love making woodcut prints and also lino of late but I am interested in learning other print making techniques.
Please let me know how much it would cost me to attend a class.
    Kind Regards
    Isabel Agol

Hello Isabel, I admire you perseverance in printmaking. Yes, you can learn other printmaking techniques with me, from traditional acid etching to non-toxic solar-plate techniques where you can achieve intaglio positive plates and also negative relief plates. I also teach another one I like which is full of fun and surprises. I call it liquid-metal printmaking. The negative relief solar plates are perfect to do mono-prints, they look similar to a woodcut or lino cut print. I also teach printing techniques, from multi colored a lá pupé prints to chine collé, stop out methods, rainbow roll ups other methods.

You can find the workshop prices here on the Printmaking Classes in Spain site: http://printmakingcoursesinspain.com/pricesbooking/. I have just lowered them by 40%, so you won’t have to save so long. You will probably want to stay in my Gallinero artists’ residence, which is here on the grounds. More information here on the Gallinero site: http://artistsrefugespain.wordpress.com/.

If there’s anything else you would like to know, just ask. You can email me at maureen(at)maureenbooth.com.

      All the best,

      Maureen
